“This is what the LORD says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.’” This first portion of verse 16 in Jeremiah chapter six is a wonderful promise from the Lord. It occurs in a section of scripture where the prophet is admonishing Israel for turning away from the Lord and His commandments.
We hope that, for many, a visit to Liebenzell Retreat Ministries will be an encouragement to seek the Lord away from the busy-ness and distractions of everyday life. One of the recent additions toward accomplishing that is the new “Prayer Path.”
Starting at the Guest House Ebenezer, the Liebenzell Prayer Path wanders through fields and forests on beautiful Schooley’s Mountain, taking the sojourner on a solitary walk with the Lord. Single benches at regular intervals invite you to sit, read God’s Word, and meditate and pray.
Ralph Gjerde, the Director of Liebenzell’s Retreat Ministries, says the Prayer Path will eventually wind its way to the Retreat Center, at the other end of Liebenzell’s property. “Jesus would often spend time alone with His Father,” notes Gjerde. “If Jesus needed this to stay spiritually healthy, how much more do we?”
